Punctuation: Purposeful Pauses - take a breath and take notice -

Comma , - split items in a series, team with a conjuction to divide independent clauses, mark the start of a quote, isolate dependent clauses, separate grouped modifiers, bring order to large numbers, set off dates and places.

Colon : indicate the start of a listing, cordon explanatory phrases, close a formal letter's greeting.

Semicolon ; can be used to connect independent clauses, place before conjuctive adverbs and other phrases that join independent clauses, avoid confusion by separating items or phrases in a listing that require the use of commas.

Sentence Stoppers - Grammar's Finish Line

Question Mark ? The question mark closes querries

Exclamation Point ! - An exclamation point makes words scream.

Period . A period finalizes all other utterances.

Punctuation: Word Wraps - use them in pairs -

“Quotation Marks” Double them for quotes and title, Use only one for quotes inside quotes.

( Parentheses ) Place information inside to add details to sentences.

[ Brackets ] Add details to details already enclosed in parentheses.
