Noam Chomsky

Noam Chomsky is a linguisitcs and analytic philosopher well known as a political dissident, anarchist and libertarian socialist.

Chomsky was cited as a source more often than any other living scholar from 1980 to 1992, and is also the eighth most cited source of all time.

He is currently professor emeritus of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Short story writer and novelist Kate Chopin, an avid reader as a child, was prescribed to write as a means of overcoming depression after the death of her husband and mother. Today she is considered to be a forerunner in feminist literature.

Agatha Christie, the author of novels, short stories and plays, was the creator of detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple, is also noted as the best-selling writer of any kind, along with William Shakespeare.

Only the Bible is known to have outsold her collected sales of roughly four billion copies of novels and UNESCO states that she is currently the most translated individual author in the world.

FYI - Agatha Christie was friends with author Eden Phillpotts.

Winston Churchill was a noted historian, artist and writer in addition to being better known as a British statesman and orator. His two most popular works were The Second World War and A History of the English-Speaking Peoples. Churchill was awarded the 1953 Nobel Prize in Literature “for his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending exalted human values.”
