Dancers are those who practice the art form of dance by making intentional movements, usually “in time” with music.

A choreographer is one who creates dances.

Dancers use their bodies to express non verbally social and cultural ideals through participation and/or performance, either alone, with partners, or in groups.

Dance is also performed by other animals such as bee dance or a mating dance, and inanimate objects are said to be dancing in the wind.

Archeologists have found painting of dancers in the UNESCO designated Bhimbetka rock shelters in India, and in Egyptian tomb painting. Sports such as gymnastics, figure skating and synchronized swimming incorporate dance.
