In the early 19th century Jeanne-Francoise Julie Adelaide Bernard Recamier was a leader of the French literary and political circles.

She was friends with Swiss author Germaine de Stael and Francois-Rene Vicomte de Chateaubriand.

FYI - The récamier, the type of sofa on which she liked to recline, is named after her.
