The United Kingdom (the U.K. or UK) is a contitutional monarchy made up of the four constituent countries of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in the British Isles. Geographically the British Isles is an archipelago off the northwest coast of Europe that include the island of Great Britain (with England, Scotland, and Wales) Ireland (with Northern Ireland) and thousands of smaller islands. The United Kingdom also has overseas territories which includes Anguilla, Bermuda, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, Pitcairn Islands, Falkland Islands, Montserrat, Saint Helena with Ascension & Tristan da Cuhan, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, Turks & Caicos Islands, Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia on Cyprus. |
