Maxfield Parrish, best remembered for his romanticized images, brillant colors, and geometric format, was inspired by the Old Masters and Pre-Raphaelites. Parrish, an icon of the Golden Age of Illustration, illustrated publications, ads, calendars and greeting cards.

Frank Paul is best remembered as an illustrator for science fiction pulp magazines and technical drawings. Paul's early training as an architect is evident in his depictions of giant robots and spaceships in dramatic compositions that leave the human as vague and unimportant.
