March Facts Facts & Tidbits

March: Pruning Trees, Master Ermengaut, Giclee PrintMarch, the third month of the year, is named for the Roman god of war, Mars. (ummm-marching??) Other names of March are Lenctmonat (root of Lent) and Rhed-monat, for the goddess Rhedam (Saxon), Anthesterion in ancient Hellenic civilzation, and hyld-monath meaning loud or stormy for the ancient Britons.

A famous saying with March is “if March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb, but if it comes in like a lamb, it will go out like a lion.”- Optimize on a teachable moment with weather posters, make a simple chart with your students to track the weather.
