Doctor Paul Gachet, who was an amateur painter, treated Vincent Van Gogh during his time at Auvers-sur-Oise.

After earning a medical degree Gachet worked in the mental hospitals of Bicetre and Salpetriere and had a reputation of being sympathetic to creative individuals.

Among the people Gachet knew or treated were Gustave Courbet, Victor Hugo, Auguste Renoir, and Edouard Manet (and Manet didn't take his advise).

Galen quote ~
• “Those who are enslaved to their sects are not merely devoid of all sound knowledge, but they will not even stop to learn!”
