Lagos is the main port and the most populous conurbation (an area on contineous urbanization) in Nigeria, a nation in West Africa.

Lagos is situated on the mainland and several islands just west of the Niger River Delta on the Atlantic Coast.

The name Lagos is from the Portugese, and means lakes.

Lahore is the second largest city in Pakistan after Karachi.

Lahore has existed on a main trade route for more than 2,000 years, with Lahore being ruled by many different masters.

Today Lahore is an important religious center with many temples, mosques and shrines, as well as a financial and industrial center.

L'Anse aux Meadows is an archaeological site in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Located on the northernmost tip of the island of Newfoundland, it was discovered in 1960 and is the only known site of a Norse village in North America outside of Greenland.

The remains of eight structures have been identified and include an iron smithy, a carpentry and boat workshop, as well as spindle and needle artifacts to suggest women were part of the community.

La Paz is the “administrative” capital of Bolivia, and at 11,975 ft above sea level, is the world's highest capital city. The city of La Paz sits in a bowl lke area created by the surrounding high mountains of the Altiplano (Spanish: high plain), with the towering triple-peaked Illimani, the most dominiate landmark.

The La Paz Metropolitian area is the most populous urban area in Bolivia.

La Paz was founded by Spanish conquistadors at Laja, a Native American settlement, in 1548, and later moved to its present location. The name, meaning Peace, was commemorating the end of in-fighting amongst conquistadors.

The official capital of Bolivia, and seat of Justice, is Sucre.

Leh, once the capital of the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh, is now in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

For centuries Leh was a stopover on trade routes along the Indus Valley between Tibet to the east, Kashmir to the west and also between India and China. Today the Old Town is threaten by the increased rains caused by climate change.

Leipzig, first mentioned in 1015, has been an important commerce city for centuries, located at the intersection of the Holy Roman Empire's the Via Regia and Via Imperil and the confluence of the Weisse Elster, Pleisse and Parthe rivers. It has been the home of the Leipzig Trade Fair since the Middle Ages as well as a major center of learning and music.

The ruins of Leptis Magna, a prominent city of the Roman Empire, are located on the Mediterranean coast of Libya.

The site was first inhabitated by Phoenician colonists c. 1100 BC and was part of the Carthagian civilization. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
